The Hopsicles Return

I'm happy to (belatedly) report that "Hopsicles" have returned to the Rustico bar just down the road from me in Alexandria, Virginia.

You may remember that earlier this summer the bar ran into trouble from the state Alcohol Beverage Control for violating an obscure, anachronistic law stating that alcohol must be stored in its original container until it's served to customers. ABC didn't rescind that dumb regulation, mind you. Rather, Rustico worked with ABC agents to figure out a way around to comply with it.

I plan to sample the wares this week.

The important thing is whether it is in stumbling distance of your home.

As a libertarian, I find it indeed a hopeful sign that the authority of the Commonwealth will not be preventing him from perpetrating this unpleasant bastardization. As someone who appreciates a good beer, I’m somewhat less sanguine about the fact that simple good taste is apparently equally impotent.

“Stoutsicle”!?! Arthur Guinness must be spinning in Uachtar Árd.

Brian, speaking of bastardizations I personally wished the Commonwealth would have banned Miller Chill instead.

Reason Happy Hour in Alexandria while it's still hot enough out to enjoy a nice cool beersicle?
