Work From Home! Look at Porn All Day!

Thanks to a $150,000-a-year earmark sponsored by Rep. Frank Wolf (R-Va.), the anti-porn group Morality in Media has been paying two retired cops to review complaints about sexually explicit online material and decide whether they should be referred to the Justice Department for obscenity prosecutions:

In the last few years, 67,000 citizens' complaints have been deemed legitimate under the program and passed on to the Justice Department and federal prosecutors.

The number of prosecutions resulting from those referrals is zero.

If you happen to see something really offensive, you can report it at ObscenityCrimes.org, although keep in mind that filing false complaints can expose you to criminal prosecution. And since "men are particularly vulnerable to pornographic addiction," the site warns, they shouldn't go looking for stuff to report. Leave that to the professionals.

All porn Friday?

I'm afraid I'm going to start getting blocked from Reason.

Pro Libertate | August 10, 2007, 12:03pm | #

I can explain. It's sweeps week. Urkobold has succumbed as well.

Damn those Nielsen ratings! Damn them to hell!!

I'm so ashamed of our pandering.

daniel k | August 10, 2007, 12:04pm | #

OK, I admit it... 67,000 citizens' complaints were ALL ME, but they completely screwed it up. I'm complaining that there is NOT enough good (or, heh heh "bad") porn on the net. Just try and find a good dwarf nude catfighting lesbian website...

Paul | August 10, 2007, 12:06pm | #

mind that filing false complaints can expose you to criminal prosecution.

How? What I find obscene is obscene to me. Are they saying that reporting something that you find offensive or obscene that they don't find offensive is... illegal?

I assume everyone knows where I'm going with this?

x,y | August 10, 2007, 12:07pm | #

$5 (not a unilateral contract offer) to the first H&R poster who spams that website with Morality in Media's webpage information.

ProGLib:

don't forget hier, too!

x,y | August 10, 2007, 12:08pm | #

I assume we're all just waiting for the Urkobold to weigh in on this.

When does trolling cross over into spamming?

Adam W. | August 10, 2007, 12:35pm | #

Someone oughtta spam that page; just use a fake name and address.

Mike Laursen | August 10, 2007, 12:36pm | #

I'm going to file a complaint about the U.S.A. P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Act. It's one of the most obscene things I've ever seen.

Pro Libertate | August 10, 2007, 12:38pm | #

It's okay. All the spamming happens here. Besides, if it's p0rn, it's not spam. It's cutting-edge technological innovation.

Adam W. | August 10, 2007, 12:42pm | #

Here's a fairly good ctitique of the contract: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/07/13/AR2007071301728.html

www.dwarfnudecatfightinglesbians.com, DUH!

daniel k | August 10, 2007, 1:10pm | #

OK Bill, I'll try the site when I get home and off my work computer. I hope its real catfighting and not fake... and dwarfs, not midgets. and LESBIANS, not bisexuals...

"men are particularly vulnerable to pornographic addiction,"

Tell me about it. The pain of withdrawal kept me downloading day after day.

The only way I was able to quit was by developing a relationship with a real woman. Now I never go looking for porn.

VM | August 10, 2007, 1:19pm | #

Cesar:

don't listen to him, lest you get the same links ProGLib just got.

bohohahahahahahaha.

plus - I'm gonna offer vacations in my little world. To be launched in Spring 2008.

I trust the URKOBOLD to make my decision for me.

Urkobold™ | August 10, 2007, 2:06pm | #

CESAR, YOUR WISDOM IS POSITIVELY SOCRATIC. THE URKOBOLD FOREWENT HIS FOOLISH MINIONS AND POSTED DIRECTLY WITH HIS OWN, NOBLE HANDS. BEHOLD THE APPROPRIATE LINK TO FOLLOW!

I'm hard at work creating veritable art and you hooligans, you cretins, all you care about are the pretty, pretty ladies (and hunky guys).
Losers. I'm going to join this guy's blog team.

Fluffy | August 10, 2007, 2:35pm | #

I'm going to report every page of that thug Giuliani's campaign website.

There is no real promulgated judicial standard for obscenity, so in answer to the question above I would say that it's technically impossible to file a false complaint.

VM | August 10, 2007, 2:49pm | #

URKOBOLD is now a photographer, too?

How did URKOBOLD do as Chief Marketing Officer hier?

Bronwyn | August 10, 2007, 2:58pm | #

VM,

Meh. Not bad, but they're not my type. That may be eye candy for gay men, but it leaves this straight girl cold.

Thanks, though.

If you're looking for some beautiful erotic photography, rather than hardcore porn, go to askjolene.com and type in "met-art", or go to met-art.com.

Bronwyn | August 10, 2007, 3:29pm | #

VM,

No see, I'm just a more classic kinda girl. These Damned Kids Today and their Abercrombie catalogs don't work for me.

But thanks for the family picture... how many kids are in that shot, anyway? I've only got the one so far :)

VM | August 10, 2007, 3:32pm | #

nineteen kids, of course.

It's the genuine article!

bitter, bitter tears of disappointment.

kostia | August 10, 2007, 10:58pm | #

This douchebag is my congressman. I vote against him every two years. Twice, if I can, since Virginia has open primaries and I can vote in the Republican primary even though I'm not one. But no one ever really runs against him. It's frickin' sad.
