In retrospect, why did an Army of Bloggers (sort of copyright Glenn Reynolds) feel it necessary to call 98 U.S. senators to see which one put a hold on a Barack Obama-Tom Coburn bill to publicly track earmarks? Of course it was Ted Stevens. If earmarking was a 1970s adult film loop, Stevens would be John Holmes. (Robert Byrd could be Harry Reems.)

They want to deliver vast amounts of earmark information over the internet. And again, the internet is not something you just dump earmarks on. It's not a truck. It's a series of tubes. And if you don't understand those tubes can be filled and if they are filled with all the information regarding earmarks, when you put your message in, it gets in line and its going to be delayed by enormous amounts of earmark information.It's for the internet people!!!

Robert Byrd could be Harry Reems.We here in WV like Mr. Byrd just fine. We can use all the help we can get. After all, the rest of the country had no problem running off with the state's resources.
I just wish a worthy successor would turn up so that Mr. Byrd can think abour retiring. It is becoming increasingly painful to watch him, although his mind is as sharp as ever.

RC, coal mining is perhaps the best example of externalities not covered by the market.When you dump a mountaintop into a river valley, but pay the locals miner wages for their labor, you are robbing them blind.

I wonder why the owner of the river valley didn't defend his property or pursue compensation.
