Drew Carey's gotta be like the hardest guy in the world not to like.

Brian Sorgatz | January 30, 2008, 3:57pm | #

True, Ken.

As part of the seeming minority of Reasonoids with spiritual inclinations, I'm very glad to hear Carey talk about spirituality in the interview the way that he does.

And this is the guy who wrote a book called Dirty Jokes and Beer.

That interview is proof that libertarians are a bunch of selfish hedonists.

Yes, we're such head-tripping solipsists. We have no sense of human community whatsoever.

Meyo | January 30, 2008, 4:17pm | #

For the record, there's no way you can disporve my solipsism.

Brian Sorgatz | January 30, 2008, 4:23pm | #

I won't bore the secular humanists with the details, but I believe Carey is right when he says, six and a half minutes in, that Jesus advises people to pray in private (otherwise it's an exercise in vanity).

Carey claims to be a libertarian, but he's on a show called "The Price is Right." What kind of bullshit, socialist thinking came up with a show called "The Price is Right?"

It's an obvious libertarian reference to the price set by a free market being the correct value for the item in question. Socialists would produce "Control the Right Price."

In a free market, the price is always right.

Watching old clips of The Drew Carrey Show, I forgot how good it was before it got weird (and even then it'd have it's moments). It had a nice populist streak to it in which the characters would rather go bowling with their friends on weekends and bitch about their shitty jobs, unlike Sienfield where the characters would just scoff cynically at the world while cynical, shitty things happened all around them.

Thinking about it, shows about blue collar/working stiff life where really popular during the 90s. Who's fault was that, The Simpsons?

Ralph Kramden | January 31, 2008, 1:30am | #

The 90's, huh? One of these days, Hohensee! One of these days...

Murder, She Wrote taught me to avoid little old ladies who write murder mysteries. People are constantly getting murdered wherever they go. In a similar way, The Drew Carey Show taught me that fat people naturally despise one another and will trade vicious insults at every opportunity.

I found it interesting what he had to say about Obama. Obama has been found to be the MOST liberal Senator in Washington; yet, a libertarian like Carey supports him - and brushes off his policies.

I would think that Drew would support Ron Paul; who is in favor of legalizing marijuana (especially for medical purposes), ending the war, getting rid of the IRS, reining in eminent domain, legalizing gambling, privatizing as much government crap as possible - in other words, all the stuff he gripes about on his videos (which I love).

Now, don't get me wrong...I'd rather see President Obama than another Clinton in the White House, or even a good majority of the Republican candidates this time around; but, let's get real - with Super Tuesday just days away, Ron Paul could turn it around quickly if he got some big names backing him (like Drew Carey).

Oh well....

Why doesnt drew like ron paul?
