Johnny White's rocks! When I lived there (I married a Yankee, for my sins, and moved to Maine), I'd stop in on my way home from work to play Jeopardy with the crowd; one Mardi Gras, my husband and I made custom buttons of the bar's sign for the owner to hand out. It was my local; I never go to the city without stopping by.Contrarian | December 14, 2006, 12:44pm | #
Yep, it's heart-warming to know that the drunks in Chocolate City have a place to call home.Joseph Majsterski | December 14, 2006, 1:05pm | #
Clueless, out of touch, busybody politicians? Shocking! The universe is made up of individuals, some of whom are better/smarter/tougher than others. It doesn't sound like the folks at Johnny White's spend a lot of time waiting around for a handout. Or instructions from the government.
I'll be glad when the government shuts that place down! Think of the children. Long live the nanny state!
Johnny White's does indeed rock, I spent more time at Coop's though. They have (had?) a chicken alfredo that was to die for and a pretty mean chicken and rabbit jambalaya. Whatever you do, just don't look in the kitchen or it will ruin your meal.
