Will it be a file obit, or a siezed opportunity for a polished current obit showing off the writer's skill?

It's always a tossup with celebrities.

Mike Barnicle can be counted on for the pathetic fallacy. I assume it's raining in Boston.

bigbigslacker | October 14, 2006, 6:57pm | #

Oh man, this has Carl Rove written all over it.

:)

They killed him to gernerate the news story that would squelch the Dems credibilty in denouncing the Foley scandal. Typical Republican dirty trick.

(my joke is probably part of someones serious post on some kind of underground site for Democrats. Wing nuts rule!)

I know some people wanted him kicked out of Congress instead of just censuring him but he was reelected regardless. If he had been kicked out, could he have been reelected?

D.A. Ridgely | October 15, 2006, 2:07am | #

Well, so much for my "Congressional Eye For The Young Guy" pilot.

gbuckles | October 15, 2006, 2:41am | #

You can't makethis stuff up. Gerry *Studds*, first openly gay Congressman, dies at the ripe, supple age of 69.

Crusader Rabbit | October 15, 2006, 2:24pm | #

When will the Republicans finally learn the "That's my story and I'm sticking to it!" defense? You didn't see Studds or Barney Frank (or O.J., for that matter) weeping defensively and quitting. Hell no! "I did a congressional page [or a male prostitute or my ex-wife] and I'm proud of it!" seems to work every time.

jf | October 15, 2006, 4:30pm | #

Mr. Rabbit,

Well, there's always the "that depends on what your definition of the word 'is' is" defense.

Great ! There goes another one of my Heros.

Once again Studds and Foley illustrate the fact that gays are preditors. No wonder the boy scouts try so hard to keep them out and equally no wonder the gays fight so hard to have access. It really is disturbing that the democrats gave a standing ovation to Studds and cheered his behavior at the time. All of a suddens the democraps found morality or is it hypocrisy?

Stevo Darkly | October 15, 2006, 8:34pm | #

From the article:

Former Rep. Gerry Studds, who became the first openly gay member of Congress when his homosexuality was exposed during a teenage page sex scandal, died early Saturday. He was 69.

I ... I ...

I'm a bad person.

gays are preditors

I can't tell if this is a troll or serious.

Stevo Darkly | October 15, 2006, 9:40pm | #

gays are preditors

That was obviously a typo. Of course, he meant, "Gays are creditors." Homosexuals tend to have above-average incomes and therefore are more likely to be lenders than borrowers.

survey says: troll

Arafelis | October 16, 2006, 4:39pm | #

"Gays are creditors."

Further proof of the Gay-Zionist conspiracy.
