"Bailey tackles touchy subjects"

So declareth the excellent Charlottesville, Virginia-based alt-weekly The Hook. The Bailey in question is Reason's own Good Ronald and the tetchy subjects are those featured in his great new book Liberation Biology (come on and buy it already).

"I'm a technological optimist," says Bailey, "and a lot of people-- both left-wingers and right-- focus only on the bad possibilities of science. We create these scary monsters that never come true."

Whole thing here.

Ron will be reading from Lib Bio in Charlottesville--his hometown--on Dec. 1. Details in the article above.

Awww, I was hoping this post was going to have to do with the Rumpole of the Bailey attacking British subjects. Who are touchy. About what, I was hoping to find out.

Has Hit and Run achieved 50% advertising posing as comment-worthy posts yet?

Evan | November 29, 2005, 8:32am | #

jf,

Yeah, because, you know, why else would a blog link to a positive article about one of its columnists, than to advertise that columnist's book?

Man, what's your problem with the world? Almost all of your posts are just bitter as hell. I mean, yeah, sometimes I get frustrated with shit (for example, I bought my first new car on day after the Prescription Drug Welfare Handout Bill passed, and it sure dampened my new-car excitement...), but if you spend all your time soured at the world, well, that's just sad.

Then again, maybe you're actually a really nice guy in person, you just save all up your bitterness and resentfulness for snarky H&R comments.

The helix on the book cover goes the wrong way. I am surprised no one has mentioned this before.

Gimme = Herrick? As I said before--I didn't design the cover and you should have seen the really ugly version the publisher proposed at first. If you're in C'ville come on down and tell me about the design to my face on Thursday.

Actually, Gimme = Jackass trying to make a joke. I thought the second line made that obvious.

I won't be in C'ville, so the cover art throwdown will have to wait.

Who's there?

Control freak. Okay, now this is the part where you say, "Control freak who?"

(That's my favorite knock-knock joke of all time.)
